Nick Barraclough

NickNickNick was born and brought up in Cambridge, passed the eleven-plus then failed horribly at any further academic pursuit.

Various dead-end jobs, then he got into bands, roughly in this order (though some were concurrent): the Swingin' Vibros, The Come Before Midnight Backstairs Eviction Boys String Band Entertainers,Temporary Ferret, Baby Whale, Pete Sayers Grand Ole Opry Roadshow, Nick, Nick and the Nickettes, Telephone Bill & the Smooth Operators, High & Lonesome, The Light Blues Band, The Della Portas.

NickNickNick is a good guitar player, rusty five-string banjoist, solid but simple double bassist, Dobro player ingénu and can implythat he knows his way around the mandolin and the piano by playing two or three impressive chords (further than that he's stuffed).

Nick has started writing songs, rather late in life, that are crude but effective, as a foil to Chris's exquisitely crafted gems.

After fifteen years presenting a weekly country music show for BBC Radio 2, he now makes documentaries for Radio 2 and Radio 4 and he's on his second novel. The first still hasn't been published.

Nick fronts 'The Bill' and is quite funny, if he's in the right mood...
